Sean Ensign is a well known name in the dance clubs all over the u.s. With the release of his 4th single ‘I wanna be with you’. and a visit to the u.k soon , I was lucky enough to pin him down for a chat.
- So Sean please tell your fans in England & Europe a little about yourself.
- I am currently 36 years old. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio (USA) and the youngest of 7 siblings (2 of which are twins ”just not mine). I am now living in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
- When did you first discover you could sing & how did you get your break in the music industry?
- I have been singing since I was very young. When I was in kindergarten, I had to do a duet with another student for the Christmas pageant. Since then, I have always loved to sing.
- Who were your idols & influences growing up?
- My idols have been Prince, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Erasure and now Rob ThomaSeand Justin Timberlake.
- Who is your own favorite artists?
- My own personal favorite artists are first and foremost Da Buzz. I LOVE THEM! Then it’s Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Fergie (yes ”I have followed her since Kids Incorporated)
- You have worked with top producers & remixes such as hex hector & Mike Rizzo. and well known artists such as Bonnie Pointer , Kristine w & Inaya Day. If you could choose anyone to work with who would it be?
- Honestly it would be Kylie Minogue. I respect and admire here. It would be my dream to open for her and tour with her. She is amazing!
- Although you are based in the U.S., your sound is much more European. Is that intended? What hi-nrg style do you prefer; American which is a harder tribal sound or European which is much more traditional sound?
- My European sound wasn’t necessarily intended. It just came from the heart and soul. I prefer European music over US music any day. I really don’t care for the tribal (potSeand pans) myself.
- Your best known track in the UK is a cover of ‘Everytime it rains‘ by Ace of Base. Was it your idea to cover this song & are there any other songs you would like to stamp with your unique voice?

- Yes, it was my idea to cover the song. I wanted to pick something not everyone knew, but might recognize. For my new album, I have already done a cover of the Supremes You Keep Me Hangin’ On. There are a few more I would love to re-do like Rick Springfield’s Don’t’ Walk Away and Jeffrey Osbourne’s Baby Stay With Me Tonight, but that will come in time.
- What is the purpose of your forthcoming visit to England? And what dates will you be here?
- The purpose is to visit my incredibly wonderful promoter Darren Eager of Liberty City Music and to show my face and talent in the UK finally (no pun intended). I have always wanted to go to the UK and there’s no better time than after releasing four singles (the fourth right now). I will be there 21 August to 27 August.
- When will the follow up CD to 2006’s finally be released? And can you give us a sneak peek of what to expect?
- Most likely early 2009. I am slightly changing my style to add a more R & B groove to some of the tracks. But no worries, there will still be at least 5 high energy dance tracks like Feel the Music and Fly Away. Sneak peeks I usually don’t like to give away, but I always do new material when I perform, so those who see the shows get all the newest sneak peeks.
- And finally tell us a secret or little known fact about yourself.
- Oh geeze, a secret. Ok, here goes. My favorite TV show is Charmed
. I have probably seen every episode at least 20 times each if not more (that is 8 seasons of about 23 episodes each). It’s how I unwind and relax and escape stress.
